THE WINDOWS XP FIGHT CLUB

Don't let those spoiled Windows 8 users or those snobby Mac users get you down

Welcome to the Windows XP Fight Club

Ok, here are the rules:
(Note: fight refers to verbal fight)

1st RULE: Tell everyone you know about XP FIGHT CLUB

2nd RULE: Tell everyone you don't know about XP FIGHT CLUB

3rd RULE: If someone submits and says, "ok, your OS is better than mine", or goes limp, the fight is over.

4th RULE: Only two people to a fight.

5th RULE:
One fight at a time.

6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes. (Rule 6 is optional for females)

7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to.

8th RULE: To join XP FIGHT CLUB you must submit to the whole world (via the comment section below) why you will fight and defend your right to keep XP until the day you die (or at least until you catch a virus so bad that it destroys all the sectors of your hard drive).

Fight for your right to keep and bear Windows XP

Why should I join the XP Fight Club?

This is the place where XP enthusiasts can come together and show their support for the greatest operating system ever invented. And according to DailyTech.com we still hold 28 percent of the OS market.
Windows XP still holds a big chuck of the OS pie

That's a lot of freaking computers! We have to stay strong. Beef up our security a little. And stay the course for as long as we can. The Windows XP Holdouts can survive 10 more years if we want.

At almost 12 percent, the stuborn folks in Ohio are truly Windows XP diehards

Make a Stand! Fight for our rights! Long Live XP!!!

We don't want to upgrade to Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. The only reason to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 is if you are an avid computer gamer. Oh yeah, the other reason is for virus protection. Well, alls you need to do is to set up a serious firewall and run a good anti-virus software program.

If you still use and love XP, please leave a comment and share your story with the rest of us.

  1. I love XP and intend to keep using it until the POSREADY 2009 updates are discontinued in 2019. What happens after 2019 is something I don't like to think about, yet I know is inevitable. That's right - moving to Linux which is as much a pain in the ass OS as Windows 7.

As far as I am concerned XP Home Edition is relatively simple, configurable and stable, has less overhead, runs faster and is less vulnerable to imperfect hardware. In fact it is like Linux. I just don't feel the need for the more advanced features of Windows7/8 as I am not a gamer and DXVA1 seems to work just as well as DXVA2. The main disadvantage in using XP for me is the declining support from hardware manufacturers and software developers. However whenever an application like Handbrake discontinues XP support you can find a cool alternative that does support XP like ShanaEncoder.

Security under XP is not the big deal that it's detractors make it out to be. You just have to be prepared to be more proactive in securing your PC rather than relying on the inherent security of the OS. I am using a Host Intrusion Prevention system called Pro Security v1.43 available with a patch here: http://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/CPatch/security/prosecurity/source/ I monitor outgoing network traffic with Kerio Personal Firewall v2.15.

I suppose I will have to surrender and move to Linux when browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Opera cease XP support and their last XP version becomes so outdated that it is unuseable. I intend to counter the imminent ending of XP support for Adobe flash using the GreasMonkey plugin Viewtube and WMP. There is even a version suitable for a limited number of porn sites called Viewtube+
